Imagine a half-hour comedy series that centers around one of America’s most famous and respected poets. Seriously, imagine it as being weird, off-kilter, and a bit goofy. Also, for the hell of it, go ahead and imagine Oscar-nominated actor Hailee Steinfeld playing the lead role. Well, imagine no further, because that’s exactly what we have in Dickinson, a new Apple TV+ series.

Apple has officially dropped the trailer for the strange new series, and to be honest, I have no idea if it works on a trailer level for me. As it stands, I’m not sure if these anachronistic-like scenes take place in the real world in her head.

Below is the official synopsis for Dickinson:

“Dickinson is a half-hour comedy series starring Oscar® nominee Hailee Steinfeld. Created by Alena Smith, Dickinson audaciously explores the constraints of society, gender, and family from the perspective of rebellious young poet Emily Dickinson.”
