Spooky season is upon us! What a better way to get in the spirit of the season that with a trailer for the upcoming Dreamworks Pictures’ horror film, The Turning which is loosely based on the 1898 Henry James novella Turn of the Screw. Today we can take our first look at the haunted house thriller that has been around for over a century. Check out the trailer above and the poster below!
As you can see by the trailer above the story is going to follow a character named Kate, who is the new appointed nanny in a mysterious estate in the Maine countryside. Here she is to take care of two very strange and disturbed orphans Flora and Miles. She soon discovers that the house and the children are hiding dark secrets and that not everything is what it seems to be. It will star Mackenzie Davis, Stranger Thing’s Finn Wolfhard, newcomer Brooklynn Prince and Joely Richardson.
The Turning is being directed by Floria Sigismondi, who has worked on The Runways as well as The Handmaid’s Tale. It was written by Chad Hayes and Carey W. Hayes, who also gave us The Conjuring. The film is being produced by Scott Bernstein and Roy Lee. It will be released domestically and in select international territories by Universal.
