The time of All Hallow’s Eve is nearly upon us, and with that, many of you may be getting yourselves in the mood for some scares leading up to the big day. Around this time of year, I myself dive deep into the bowels of YouTube in search of paranormal and conspiracy videos and only come up for breath with Halloween classic films like Hocus Pocus. But if you’re not really into simple movies and videos and are all about that immersive experience, this may be up your alley.

This coming Friday, Paranormal Activity creator Oren Peli and Impezario Entertainment will be launching an all-new horror-themed AR experience that will be available on Android and iOS. If you haven’t watched it already, check out the trailer above to get an idea of what to expect.

Here is the overall pitch for the game:

“Unwanted at birth, Mary Tudor was the daughter of the notorious King Henry VIII. Answering to no man, she ruled alone and the tyranny of Queen Mary’s reign matched her father’s. As did her obsessions, which lead to hundreds dead by her command. It was this bloodshed that earned her the moniker that would last forever, Bloody Mary.”

“This week, you will experience the legend of one of the most sinister villains in history of mankind in an entirely new way – turning your home in to a horror movie…with YOU in the starring role.”

Honestly, this looks like it can be a fun time-killer, but I’m not entirely sure how the game will actually turn out. Several years back, I played Spirit Camera on the 3DS and it too tried to turn horror into an AR experience, but it wasn’t exactly one that I found all that engaging. Will Night Terrors change my mind? Luckily, I already have a smartphone, so it likely won’t take a whole lot for me to at least give it a shot!
