I’ll admit it: I’ve never seen the original TRAINSPOTTING. Nothing against the film, its stars, or- especially- its director, Danny Boyle. I was just 13 when it came out, and a film about a bunch of British drug addicts didn’t scream “Must See Entertainment” at the time. I know it’s supposed to be great, and I probably owe it to myself to check TRAINSPOTTING out, but my lack of knowledge on the subject doesn’t hinder the excitement with which I share this teaser for the sequel with you.
Yes, here we are, 20 years later, and Boyle has managed to reunite the original cast for T2. The teaser, which you can see below, seems ripped right out of the 90s trailers for the original film. The reveal of the iconic Core Four is handled very well and, putting myself in the shoes of people who loved the original TRAINSPOTTING, I sort of geeked out when I saw them there. The sound of Iggy Pop probably helped with that.
Check out the teaser for T2!
Twenty-one years after the release of his breakthrough hit, director Danny Boyle reunites with the cast of Trainspotting for T2, to be released in the UK on 27 January 2017 and in the US a week later. In this first look at footage from the new film, Renton (Ewan McGregor), Spud (Ewen Bremner), Sick Boy (Jonny Lee Miller) and Begbie (Robert Carlyle) are glimpsed in an echo of a scene from the original, standing on a platform as a train trundles through, this time yet more weathered.
T2: TRAINSPOTTING arrives stateside on February 3, 2017.
