Showrunner Steve Blackman said in a statement, via THR,
“I’m so excited that the incredibly loyal fans of The Umbrella Academy will be able to experience the fitting end to the Hargreeves siblings’ journey we began five years ago,” said showrunner Steve Blackman. “But before we get to that conclusion, we’ve got an amazing story ahead for season four, one that will have fans on the edge of their seats until the final minutes.”
The cast main cast will all return for Season 4. Meanwhile Blackman is not finished with Netflix yet. Blackman has signed on to adapt the Sony video game Horizon Zero Dawn into a series. There’s also a limited series called Orbital coming from Blackman on Netflix.

“Horizon Zero Dawn and Orbital are elevated, event-level projects grounded in characters that fans will love and relate to, which are hallmarks of Irish Cowboy productions,” Blackman said. “We’re thrilled to be working with Netflix and all of our partners on developing these ground-breaking stories.”
I have my doubts that one more season will wrap up all the hanging story-lines in Umbrella Academy. However, feels like this is a show that won’t try to explain plot points that go away or become holes. There are certainly a lot of questions I have as a viewer. I just have that feeling I’m still going to have most of them by the end. I guess we will see?
