Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt To End With Season 4 And Maybe A Movie

“Four seasons and a movie!” Yes, I know that’s not how the quote goes, but it’s applicable in this particular situation. It’s been three or so years since the ridiculously odd, yet undeniably endearing Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt hit Netflix. It came following the ending of NBC’s classic series 30 Rock, and given that it came from the same creators, we’d hoped it would help to fill that void.

While I’d say it’s done a great job of making me laugh, it’s definitely become its own odd beast — one that’s managed to slip a little bit too much into its own weirdness. I personally left Season 3 pretty underwhelmed and was worried this show would actually start to overstay its welcome.

As if sensing my very feelings, Deadline is reporting that Netflix and Universal Television are planning to bring the show to an end after Season 4. Furthermore, they are in talks to make a movie that would bring everything to a full-on conclusion. Given the medium in which the series is shared, I think this is an amazing way to go — leave early, and leave with a bang.

Season 4 is set to premiere its first six episodes on May 30 of this month, with its last seven episodes hitting sometime later this year.
