Well, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is not exactly cooking, but instead lining up yet another blockbuster for him the headline, as the current hottest actor in Hollywood.
Universal and Legendary teamed up to acquire Johnson’s action comedy Red Notice, per TheWrap.
Earlier in the week, there was a bidding war for the film with Warner Bros., Paramount, and Sony all interested in acquiring the high-profile project. Universal and Legendary won out, both having produced films for Johnson before, including Legendary’s upcoming Skyscraper and Universal’s Fast and the Furious franchise and the upcoming spinoff focusing on Johnson and Jason Statham.
Rawson Marshall Thurber is writing and directing Red Notice, who directed Johnson in both Skyscraper and Central Intelligence. No plot details are known about Red Notice at this point.
Can I request just one thing? Cast Kevin Hart as the other lead? Thank you.
Johnson can next be seen in Rampage this April. Then he has Fighting With Family, his HBO series Ballers, and Skyscraper all coming out this year. Disney is still putting together Jungle Cruise for Johnson, and supposedly he will still be playing Black Adam for DC… eventually. We’ve been saying this for a while, but we’re pretty confident the machine known as Dwayne Johnson hasn’t slept a wink in his life.
I can smell what The Rock is cookin’! Cash stew.
