Venom 2 already has an interesting thing going for it. Rather than return to Venom helmer Ruben Fleischer, Sony Pictures has turned to relative directing newcomer (and motion performance legend) Andy Serkis to helm the next entry in the anti-hero franchise. That alone is enough to at least pique a lot of our interests, but now they have another interesting get in the form of the cinematographer.
THR is reporting that Robert Richardson, whose collaboration with Quentin Tarantino, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, just came out, has signed on to shoot Venom 2. In addition to his work with Tarantino (which includes work on Inglourious Basterds, Django Unchained, and The Hateful Eight), Richardson has won three Oscars for his work.

But this news isn’t necessarily a huge surprise. While Serkis has only directed a few films, Richardson did work with him on Breathe, Serkis’ directorial debut from 2017. As such, this will be a reunion for the two of them that we can only hope results in a stronger film.
