Venom: First Look At Tom Hardy As Eddie Brock, Director Reveal Comic Inspirations

Earlier this week, a first look at Tom Hardy in Venom was teased, and true to the rumors, one such image was released by IGN. Take a look at the image HERE.

Sadly, this image is nothing groundbreaking, as it basically looks like an image of Tom Hardy, but it does at least confirm the character’s journalist origins. And speaking of origins, in a recording of the Venom panel at last December’s Brazil Comic Con Experience, director Ruben Fleischer offered a look into which comics they were mainly inspired by for the film.

“Our story is primarily based on the Lethal Protector and the Planet of the Symbiotes books. I can promise you badass action, Venom’s dark humor, and I can also promise you an absolutely stunning performance by Tom Hardy.”

You can watch the full video from the panel at the top of the article. In it, we get to see Fleischer talk for a bit before Tom Hardy comes in and makes the fans go nuts with a free T-shirt.

Admittedly, I’m a little bit disappointed. While the film still has a solid nine-plus months until its release, given the spinoff nature of it, it’s hard not to feel a little bit doubtful of its overall quality. With that in mind, it would have been nice to have something to see that would assuage our concerns. Perhaps soon.

But was this enough for you? What do you think of this first image from Venom? Let us know down below!
