Sorry to be the bearer of bad news if you were hyped for this, but Venom: Let There Be Carnage delayed again. The Venom sequel will now release on October 15th, instead of previous date of September 24th. However, the rumors kicking around since this announcement remains that Sony are willing to delay the movie even further if theatre attendances don’t pick up. The main cause of this current panic is the COVID Delta variant currently running amok. In several nations including the U.S., U.K. and across Europe and the Globe, vaccination has been going well. Yet, with a new variant on the loose the impact is being felt, especially amongst those who refuse to be vaccinated or were too young to be vaccinated already.
It is possible that we could see another domino effect of delays kicking in? Where does this leave the likes of Morbius, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and Spider-Man: No Way Home which remember is still currently dated for December this year?
The #Venom sequel, which has been delayed several times amid the pandemic, was set to open on Sept. 24 in the U.S. and will now premiere on Oct. 15. https://t.co/yS9ylVVj2F pic.twitter.com/zexwBcXWpT

For the moment only Sony seems to be jumping into delays, but more could follow. Reported polls say that many U.S. patrons simply don’t fancy the risk for a movie right now. Currently we do still have Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings set to open in theatres exclusively. Shang-Chi Opens on September 3rd and the current plan is no simultaneous Disney+ release. Sony, may want this extra time just so they can monitor how Shang-Chi performs? Black Widow was hard to measure due to the nature of its hybrid release.
It really doesn’t concern me personally to hear Venom: Let There Be Carnage delayed again. However, if this means a delay to No Way Home, then that will suck big time.
As always, let us know what you think of this next batch of delays for Sony below.
