Venture Bros. Cancelled By Cartoon Network, Adult Swim Exploring Options

News broke today that the long running Adult Swim series, Venture Bros., has been canceled by Cartoon Network after 7 seasons and 17 years.

Creator and writer, Christopher McCulloch (AKA Jackson Publick) confirmed today, via his personal twitter account, that the series would not be continuing. No reason was given for the cancellation.

The news of the cancellation may come as a bit of a surprise to anyone following the series, as it was only at San Diego Comic-Con in 2018 when at The Venture Bros panel, Publick and Doc Hammer confirmed that they’d begun work on season 8 and that it would be ten episodes. Unfortunately, no season 8 order was ever confirmed by Adult Swim/Cartoon Network.

The news is likely heartbreaking to fans of the series, because while there were a lot of big questions that were answered throughout the course of season 7, the ramifications of those revelations and shakeups to the status quo would almost certainly have been explored in a subsequent season.

There may be hope for the series, as Adult Swim has heard fan outcry and will tweeted their support for the show. We don’t know what form that will take, but fingers are crossed that they’ll find a way to work it out. In the meantime, if you’ve missed the show, 6 out of 7 seasons are currently available on Hulu to stream with a subscription.

Aside from Rusty finding out that his longtime nemesis The Monarch was his brother, we also saw Dr. Mrs. The Monarch become the head of the new Council 13. On a smaller scale, Hank discovered that Dean was hooking up with his girlfriend. Certainly, it doesn’t take much imagination to see that they could be headed down the same antagonistic path as Rusty and The Monarch. Alas, fellow 2020 sufferer, for now, it will be up to our imaginations.

BUT, WHAT DO YOU THINK!? Were you a fan of Venture Bros. and dying to know what would happen next!? Let us know in the comments below!
