It’s almost time to head back to the awful hotbed of crime known as Neptune. When Veronica Mars last hit the screen (in her feature film), she got back together with on-and-off-again love interest Logan and returned to the world of detecting in her hometown, deciding to no longer run from her dark past. But, as with all things, that path is bound to be a difficult one.
Hulu has ordered a new eight-episode season of the series, with all episodes set to drop on July 26 of this year. The show has generally been pretty serialized with how it handled its stories, so having it stripped down to eight episodes really is the perfect length for a solid mystery-laden season. Fans hoping to see more of the darkness the original show provided will likely be very satisfied.

Joining returning stars Kristen Bell, Jason Dohring, and Enrico Colantoni will be the likes of Patton Oswalt and J.K. Simmons.
This new trailer did seem to capture the overall tone of what we come to expect from the show. A dark mystery and plenty of room for backstabbings and corruption, though I have to say, it may be a bit difficult to talk Oswalt in a serious role like this.
