Vin Diesel In Talks To Star In Sony’s Comic Book Adaptation of Bloodshot

Since it’s relaunch in 2012 Valiant Entertainment has done a fantastic job at putting out quality series featuring some of their classic characters like Bloodshot, Ninjak, Shadowman, and others. Now they are moving on to bigger and better projects like their YouTube web series Ninjak vs. The Valiant Universe and while also working on their five-film shared universe plan with Sony. We know that two of the properties they will be using are Harbinger and Bloodshot.

Thanks to TheWrap we have news that Vin Diesel is in talks with Sony to star in Sony’s Bloodshot as Ray Garrisson aka Bloodshot. Currently Dave Wilson partner of Tim Miller at Blur Studios (director of Deadpool) is attached to direct the film. Oscar-nominated screenwriter for Arrival and writer for Valiant Entertainment’s 2017 mini-series Secret Weapons Eric Heisserer is writing the screenplay for the film.

Insiders say that Sony is looking to films like Logan and Deadpool R-rating take on the comic adaptation. Which would be completely appropriate as Bloodshot is a mortally wounded solider that is injected with cutting-edge nanotechnology that allows him to regenerate wounds and also tap into electronics. Bloodshot was created by Kevin Van Hook, Don Perlin and Bob Layton in 1992. Currently you can read Jeff Lemire’s Bloodshot Salvation which will be releasing its fifth issue this week.

For me, as a fan of Bloodshot this is very exciting news. It will be interesting to see where they kick off with this character as they will most likely start with him being controlled by the nanties and the group that created him Project Rising Spirit. Hopefully, they can add some of his human elements that Jeff Lemire did so well during his run on Bloodshot Reborn run. What do you think of this casting? Do you even recognize who Bloodshot is? Let us know your thoughts below!

Valiant Entertainment’s Bloodshot Salvation #5 is out in comic books stores everywhere Wednesday January 10, 2018.
