Wakanda Forever Starts Production In Atlanta

According to Variety, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever starts production in Atlanta. Specifically the movie began filming on Tuesday at Pinewood Studios. The movie is once again directed by Ryan Coogler and all the cast will be returning save the one unavoidable and tragic omission. Of course, the main question fans have about this Black Panther sequel is how Marvel Studios will handle the passing of Chadwick Boseman.

Marvel boss Kevin Feige spoke about the issue briefly on Tuesday.

“It’s clearly very emotional without Chad,” Feige said before the Black Widow Global Fan Event in Los Angeles on Tuesday night. “But everyone is also very excited to bring the world of Wakanda back to the public and back to the fans. We’re going to do it in a way that would make Chad proud.”

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is slated for release on July 8, 2022. However, Ryan Coogler has also signed a deal with Disney to bring some Wakanda themed content to Disney+. A Disney+ show exploring the world of Wakanda is expected, sometime. However, as yet there are no details to chew on. I guess for right now, Coogler’s main focus must be the movie.

Sadly, there will be a lot of extra pressure put on the crew and stars of Wakanda Forever in the absence of Boseman. One assumes some seeds for where that show will go could be set up within Wakanda Forever. However, that is just guesswork on my part for now.

I will however guess that we won’t hear much of anything about the Disney+ show till the movie is completed. Personally I am prepared to give Marvel Studios a bit of slack when it comes to Wakanda Forever. Marvel planned to move head with Boseman, who always believed he would fight the cancer that killed him.

What do you think of this news that Wakanda Forever starts production? As always, leave any thoughts below.
