WandaVision Was Denied Certain Characters Says Showrunner

According to showrunner Jac Schaeffer, WandaVision was denied certain characters by Marvel Boss Kevin Fiege. This practice is of course completely understandable as Fiege is aware of all the plans for certain characters and where they need to show up next. Therefore if for some reason the showrunner wanted Chris Hemsworth to be in WandaVision, they can’t. Thor’s next appearance is already planned and so on and so forth.

I guess it is the downside of working within such a shared and connected Universe. However, there are also advantages to a shared Universe like Marvel.

“I mean, there are occasionally times when it’s kind of restrictive, and you hatch a really exciting idea that involves a character from the comics or a character from the MCU, and you pitch it, and then you’re met with ‘Oh, no, we’re using that in this,'”  Jac Schaeffer said on an episode of THR’s TV’s Top 5 podcast.

She added, “There’s occasionally that kind of thing, which is frustrating, but there’s so much to go around that there’s always another character, another storyline or something that you can kind of like shunt in and get the same kind of juice out of.”

WandaVision features actors Randall Park (Ant-Man and the Wasp) and Kat Dennings (Thor, Thor: The Dark World). Park and Dennings inclusion in WandaVision was announced some time ago. However, could there also be some surprises we were not expecting?  I certainly would not rule out the possibility of some of Wanda’s former colleagues showing up in the finale. It’s already been confirmed that Benedict Cumberbatch will appear as Doctor Strange. Marvel has also announced that Wanda will appear next in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Multiverse of Madness will seemingly carry on the story that begins in WandaVision.

WandaVision has been good so far, though I agree with my colleagues on the Marvel Multiverse Mondays Podcast. Marvel should have released the first three episodes together, not just the first two. WandaVision was denied certain characters! Which Marvel characters were denied and which if any were given the go ahead for? Theories below as always.
