War Game | Janessa Goldbeck on Creating a Resurrection Scenario for the Government

January 6, 2001, the day will go down in history as the most controversial event of protestors at the United States Capitol that caused confusion, chaos, and concern for that nation thought on the brink of a civil war.

Although the infamous protest caused minimal casualties, the certain conclusion is that it took the government by surprise from the politicians, police force, and the military.

CEO of Vet Voice Foundation Janessa Goldbeck devised a war game scenario to create a similar situation involving many former government participants to observe the possibility of repeating history. The six-hour simulation was documented in War Game.

Here is the full synopsis:

War Game sweeps audiences into an elaborate future-set simulation that dramatically escalates the threat posed by the January 6, 2021 insurrection. The film follows a bipartisan group of US defense, intelligence, and elected policymakers spanning five presidential administrations as they participate in an unscripted role-play exercise. Portraying a fictional President of the United States and his advisors, they confront a political coup backed by rogue members of the US military in the wake of a contested 2024 presidential election. Like actors in a thriller, but with profound real-world stakes, the players have only six hours to save American democracy.

Jess Moss and Tony Gerber wrote and directed the documentary.
