Do you want to see Henry Cavill return as Superman? Read on.

I know a lot of Man of Steel fans have been waiting on pins and needles for years to see Henry Cavill don the cape once again. Sadly, in the wake of the Justice League failure, Warner Bros. set about overhauling their universe. Instead of going forward with a DCEU with a consistent vision across the board, they opted to lead with director-focused visions. They also set about throwing virtually everything against the wall and seeing what stuck.

One such project that was in the works was a live-action Supergirl movie. This left a lot of fans to wonder…would we ever see Henry Cavill play Superman again? Would Justice League be the last thing we saw him in? The conversation wasn’t helped by the fact that Cavill was supposed to cameo in Shazam! However, due to a scheduling conflict, that didn’t happen. What resulted was a series of reports chronicling the end of Cavill’s reign as Superman.

But is that how things would eventually shake out? Perhaps not. Heroic Hollywood reports that in the first quarter of 2020, Warner Bros. put Supergirl on ice. The reason? One insider says that DC needs to figure out what to do with Superman. In the DCEU, it would simply make no sense for there to be a Supergirl adventure without Superman unless we knew what happened to him.

As of this writing, we don’t know if the studio has actively hired anyone to take on a Superman story. That being said, it is comforting to know that they are at least listening to what fans have been asking for. Say what you will about the movies he’s starred in, but Henry Cavill has never been the problem with them. In fact, his look, physique, and acting chops are exactly what the character needs. All that’s left is for Warner Bros. to come up with story worth telling. 

On the heels of Justice League, we are finally left with a Superman that hardcore fans recognize. He has pushed passed the reluctant hero thing we saw in the first two movies. After seeing Batman almost sacrifice himself for the greater good, he seems to have been inspired to take on the mantle of the savior of humanity. I know there are plenty of people out there who would love to see Cavill take on that type of Superman. I mean, I’m not one of them, but I can see why they’d like that.
