You may have heard that some fans are less than pleased with the final season of Game of Thrones and if you read LRM Online, then you probably know I am one of them. I’ve said this many time in other articles, but just to be clear I have no issue with the ending itself, it’s the way they got there that left me scratching my head.
The SPOILER tag in the title I still think is necessary, because in this piece we are going to talk about likely the most important moment of the Game of Thrones finale and as such I don’t want anyone to have the finale ruined for them. The moment we are talking about is, of course, the moment when Jon Snow (“She’s mah Queen”, “Ah don’t want it”) finally stabs his Aunt, Lover, and Queen, Daenerys Targaryen through the heart killing her stone dead.
HBO is currently running a Game of Thrones documentary called The Last Watch, although as yet, it hasn’t winged its way over the Atlantic, so I have yet to catch it. Below, however, is a short video of Kit Harington coming to tears as he reads that part of the script for the first time with other cast members.

Harington might not have read the script, but Emilia Clarke had read it prior and gives Harington a knowing look when he gets to that part of the script. Honestly, this internal drama from Jon Snow was one of the better parts of the finale, I just wished they had given the plots time to breathe before getting to that point. Jon really doesn’t get given much to do in the final season of Game of Thrones other than this specific action and we were deprived of many conversations between Dany and Jon that led us to this point in my opinion.

I have splurged my thoughts down already on where I think Game of Thrones went wrong towards the end. It’s a pity that at the end of this great journey, we are focussed so much on the ending when the show was so great for so many years, but the issues many fans had were pretty glaring for me.
I would say that for me this scene was undoubtedly well shot and acted, and if it had come at the end of a better set-up, it would have been tremendously more powerful.
