Who doesn’t love a good mash-up? No, not the uncreative, derivative ones that tend to permeate YouTube, but the fun ones that actually execute well on an intriguing idea. Those are always worth exploring. One such video hit a few days ago, and we think it’s quite the watch.

It’s a short one, though. It comes courtesy of the YouTube channel TheDoctorOfWill, and it only clocks in at just over one minute in length, and it doesn’t get all flashy, as some would be tempted to do. Instead, it’s mainly a clip from that first Blade Runner 2049 teaser we got several months back, with the music of La La Land set over it. Also included are some lines from both films, and some photoshopped elements that are pulled from La La Land, including an impressive reveal of Emma Stone inside the mysterious sandy building.

All in all, this is a beautifully executed, minimalistic look at what could be done with an interesting idea. It may leave some viewers wanting to see more, but at the end of the day, it just makes me want to see a big budget sci-fi musical.

Yeah, that’s a niche little desire there, but you can’t blame a man for dreaming.
