Some surprising casting news today as we discover both Wendell Pierce and Chris Bauer have been cast in Thunderbolts*. The movie wrapped some time ago, so finding out casting news this late is unusual. An official project profile sent out by Disney, which we picked up via ComicBookMovie.com has both actors listed in the cast.
Wendell Pierce of course is not long finished filming his role as Perry White in Superman. So it looks like he’ll be in both comic book universes soon enough. Chris Bauer (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), is so good as an antagonist that, I’m betting he plays one in the film. For now though there is no hint of how much either will feature in the film, nor who they are playing.
Then again the main attraction of Thunderbolts* is going to be the team themselves.

Cast includes Florence Pugh as Yelena Boleva, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.
Geraldine Viswanathan replaced Ayo Edebiri in an undisclosed role. Lewis Pullman has taken over as The Sentry following Steve Yeun’s exit from the movie. Both were likely due to scheduling issues with delays caused by the strikes last year.
Written by Eric Pearson, Lee Sung Jin, and Joanna Calo, and directed by Jake Schreier, Thunderbolts* is currently set to be released in theaters on May 5, 2025.
