Don’t worry, this isn’t going to be a movie in the vein of The Emoji Movie — though that was my first thought upon reading the news.

According to Variety, Fox Searchlight Pictures is going to produce Flamin’ Hot, which will chronicle the story of Richard Montanez. Don’t recognize the name. Well, we’re sure you’re familiar with his work. He’s the businessman who went on to create Flamin’ Hot Cheetos.

It sounds like Montanez’s story is a true rags-to-riches one. A son of an immigrant, he went on to nab a job at Frito-Lay as a janitor. It was there that he created the aforementioned chip, disrupting the food industry along the way. This very much feels like a movie in the vein of The Founder, and could be a real interesting watch.

However, one potential red flag here is that Montanez himself is involved. While the movie could still be solid, it’s very possible that it will gloss over all the less-than-savory details that may have gone on behind the scenes, which would be a shame.

On board to write the screenplay for Fox Searchlight is Lewis Colick, who wrote such films as October Sky and Ladder 49.
