Today’s September full moon came with the release of the Werwulf trailer! Focus Features unleashed the second trailer of It gives the first real look at the film’s story while still keeping Robert Eggers’ creature hidden, three months before the film opens in theaters on Christmas Day.

The new Werwulf footage fills in what the June teaser left out. Aaron Taylor-Johnson is a farmer cursed to become a wolf, seen howling at the moon over a foggy, plague-stricken countryside. Lily-Rose Depp plays his wife while Willem Dafoe arrives as a knight sent to rid the land of wolves.

Eggers co-wrote Werwulf with Icelandic author Sjón, his collaborator on The Northman, and has called it the darkest script he has ever written. It’s set in England around 1300, when wolves were being wiped out of the country, and much of the dialogue is in Middle English. 

Stay tinned for the online scavenger hunt at DevourethAllMankynde.com, named after the poster’s tagline. Starting today’s full September moon, October and November full moons, a hidden “sign” appears for 24 hours, and players have to find it, decode it and submit an answer before the window closes. Anyone who solves all three gets a prize. Don’t miss today’ s first clue!
