What If A Young Superman Turned Out To Be Evil? Check Out The Trailer For Sony’s Brightburn

Aquaman will be released in a few weeks, next year we have SHAZAM!, Captain Marvel, The Avengers, Wonder Woman, Birds of Prey, and so many others in development. One can easily argue that there is an over saturation of superhero films, but if people keep paying to go see them, the studios will keep making them. But what would happen if one of those stories didn’t pan out the way it was expected? Let’s take Superman for example.

What if this creature that fell from the stars didn’t want to be a boy scout, but a someone who wanted to destroy everything? Enter David Yarovesky’s Brightburn, which gives us something like a cross between Man of Steel and The Omen. It was co-written and is being produced by James Gunn. You can check out the trailer above!

As you can see, with some of the scenes, the music and even the font used you can almost mistake it for a Superman film. In the trailer, we see that this boy who like Superman was found as a baby, has no intention of becoming a superhero, evident by how he terrorizes the diner in the trailer. This time around he will be using his power for evil.

Here is the synopsis for the film:

What if a child from another world crash-landed on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, he proved to be something far more sinister. With Brightburn, the visionary filmmaker of Guardians of the Galaxy and Slither presents a startling, subversive take on a radical new genre: superhero horror.
