It is now being reported that the next trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi will premiere on October 16, 2017. According to YouTuber, The Stupendous Wave, who sourced his video from manabyte.com. In the video, it is speculated that the trailer for the The Last Jedi will likely air during Monday Night Football. The video credits the deducing skills of manabyte.com for the estimated date of the trailer. It should be clearly stated that this assumption is purely speculative, and the idea presented is really not even at the level of a rumor. That being said, we’re not against speculating when the next trailer hits, so long as it makes sense.
So where did this YouTuber get their logic? The video notes the marketing schedule of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and says that The Last Jedi has followed a very similar pattern. Both films had initial trailers released during the April before their release, and both films had a Vanity Fair covers the month after. They both had July sizzle reals during their respective years, and the Entertainment Weekly covers for both also came around the same time.

The final trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens came in October of 2015, and seeing how both films have stuck to the same promotional timetable, it makes sense that mid-October is when fans will see a trailer. As with both Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Disney has been incredibly secretive with plot details for their plans with the Star Wars Universe and The Last Jedi is no different. What I hope to see in the trailer, is Luke’s lightsaber clashing against another, and a better understanding of the film’s overall plot, though the latter may be asking a lot.
As for the film itself, it would also be nice if were treated to some different aspects of Jedi training, more than a montage. I for one am hoping for lengthy, in-depth scenes. Unlike the prequels, which most fans knew the basic plot of, the latest trilogy has the ability to surprise us. Most anything could happen, from Rey and Kylo Ren switching sides of the force, to Luke killing Snoke, or Snoke killing Luke. We could very well see a dramatic change in the nature of what constitutes a Jedi, a Sith, and The Force itself as well.
