Where The Hell Is Hawkeye In Avengers: Infinity War?

We’re sure by this point you’ve noticed that Hawkeye is nowhere to be found in any of the Avengers: Infinity War marketing. He hasn’t shown up in the trailer, and he was also noticeably absent from the several EW covers that the outlet put out last week.

So what does this mean? As expected with every movie to feature Hawkeye, fans have speculated that he will kick the bucket in this film. I’ve been of the personal opinion that he’ll be vital in an opening scene, only to run off on his own after something goes down. When the Avengers are shattered by the film’s end, he’ll be the one to help bring them back together in next year’s Avengers 4. Of course, that’s all speculation, but what about some real facts?

ComicBook.com had a chance to discuss the character with directors Anthony and Joe Russo, and it sounds like Hawkeye is indeed off on his own private journey in this movie.

“Hawkeye coming out of Civil War is in the same position that the Cap and Falcon are in at the end of that movie,” Joe Russo said. “And Ant-Man. And coming into this movie, the characters who are on Cap’s side coming out of Civil War, some made certain decisions and others made other decisions that led to different paths and them dealing with oversight in this movie in a different way. So, Hawkeye’s on his own journey in this movie.”

“Yeah, he has a unique reaction to the Civil War situation that puts him in a special spot this film,” Anthony Russo added.

Admittedly, this does sound like something that can work in tandem with my own speculation, and I love the idea that Hawkeye continues to be a vital part of the Avengers dynamic, long after fans were willing to see him go in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
