During the beginning of the pandemic in 2000, the world was doing its best to comply with the “stay at home” orders. One family in Who Invited Charlie?, found an ideal situation by holing up in a picturesque vacation spot. Ideal until an unexpected guest arrives to stay.

The comedy film stars Adam Pally (Sonic the Hedgehog, Dirty Grandpa), Jordana Brewster (The Fast and the Furious, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning), Xosha Roquemore (Precious, Space Jam: A New Legacy), Dylan Penn (Unregistered, Signs of Love), Rhys Coiro (Entourage, Straw Dogs), Peter Grosz (The Menu, Things Heard & Seen), introducing Peter Dager (Demente Criminal, WITS Academy) and Reid Scott (Veep, The Big C). Xavier Manrique (Chronically Metropolitan) directed the movie from the script written by Nicholas Schutt (Outer Banks).

Here is the official synopsis:

Phil Schreiber, a self-involved hedge fund manager, escapes to the Hamptons with his wife and son at the beginning of the pandemic. Making an already fraught situation worse is the surprise arrival of Phil’s college roommate Charlie. An exemplar of Falstaffian excess, Charlie is also the keeper of some of Phil’s darkest secrets. To make matters worse for Phil, his wife and son love Charlie. As Charlie makes himself at home – secrets are revealed that threaten to do more harm than the virus they’re all hiding out from.

Adam Pally is a very comedian with a crude sense of humor. So casting him as Charlie is perfectly opposite of a more serious comedy of Reid Scott. Who Invited Charlie? seems potentially to be a funny family comedy.
