Why Andy Serkis Wants To Be In The Batman

I mean, who wouldn’t want to be a in a Batman film? Every single one has been stellar, including Batman & Robin, and the DC Extended Universe is more successful than ever after Justice League flopped!

I’m being a little too cruel. Seriously who wouldn’t want to be in a Batman film? It’s Batman!

Andy Serkis has his own reason for wanting to join The Batman, and it isn’t just because he was killed of in both the Marvel Cinematic Universe AND Star Wars Universe already. Serkis told JoBlo that it is because of the director, who he worked with on Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and War for the Planet of the Apes:

“Oh, for sure! I mean, I’d go to the edge of the created universe with Matt [Reeves]. I mean, he’s the most brilliant director. I would work with anything with him again, y’know, I mean, I absolutely adore him and we’re very good friends, close friends, and I think he’s an extraordinary director so for sure.”

Serkis gets around, having worked with Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg. It says a lot about Reeves that Serkis wants to follow him into the DCEU.

Hopefully at least one of the villains is CG, giving Serkis a real chance to shine, not that he isn’t good as a live-action actor as well. Clayface maybe? Killer Croc’s been done… I’m having trouble thinking of members of Batman’s rogue’s gallery that isn’t just humanoid…

Who would you have Serkis play from the Batman universe? Let us know in the comment section below!
