Why The New Chris Hemsworth Film Extraction Was His Most Exhausting Yet

The new Chris Hemsworth film Extraction was apparently his most exhausting film yet. Read on to find out why.

Not gonna lie. I’m pretty darn excited about Extraction. This is the new Netflix movie that stars Chris Hemsworth in the leading role. The movie looks like some sort of Rambo or John Wick mash-up, with Hemsworth’s character basically wrecking s**t along the way. And the stunts and fighting choreography look pretty topnotch — and I know that likely has a lot to do with the film’s director, Sam Hargrave.

Don’t worry, if Hargrave’s name doesn’t sound familiar to you…it wouldn’t. He’s a stunt guy by trade — having worked as a stunt coordinator, fight choreographer, and stunt performer throughout his career. He even doubled as Captain America himself. Hargrave also worked with Chris Hemsworth and the Russo Brothers.

With one of the Russos writing and producing this project, the other producing it, and Hemsworth starring in it, it looks like they’ve decided to give Hargrave the opportunity to strut his stuff. And if the comments from Hemsworth are anything to go off of, it looks like he’s done a great job.

“The whole thing was by far the most exhausting shoot I’ve ever been a part of,” Hemsworth said. “Sam and I have worked together on Avengers films and I knew it was going to be full of all the talent he was going to bring to the table with actions and stunts, but he took it up to a whole new level that I hadn’t experienced before. You know, you have Sam strapped to the bonnet of a car, diving off buildings with you in amongst fight sequences. The camera work has an energy for us as performers that’s pure adrenaline. And exhaustion.”

While I haven’t seen the film yet, there does seem to be a lot of energy popping from the film. It’s too early to tell just yet, but he could very well end up being the next David Leitch or Chad Stahelsky. If nothing else, these comments from Hemsworth get me amped for some high-octane action that would have been right at home in theaters 10 years ago. Here’s hoping the film will ultimately have a script to help carry the action.
