Why We Should Expect To See This Major Star Wars Character Die In Episode VIII

If there is one thing all true Star Wars fans can agree on is that the Force works in mysterious ways for the most part.  With Episode VIII just a little over a year away it is that time to start speculating what the movie will entail.  After the highly successful release of The Force Awakens last year the biggest complaint from old school Star Wars fans was that it too closely resembled the original trilogy along with the short amount of time Luke was in the film.  With so many similarities between The Force Awakens and the original trilogy the similarities between Luke Skywalker and Obi Wan Kenobi seems to be the last piece to connect the new trilogy to the old.  The journey that we have seen Luke Skywalker take has been molded from his first mentor.  With Luke taking on a more dominant role in Episode VIII it is only natural to think that he will fulfill his destiny of following in the footsteps of Old Ben.

Although Mark Hamill’s classic character was only featured briefly in The Force Awakens it is safe to assume that he will have a more prominent role in Episode VIII.  This brings me to believe that this will be the last movie we will see Luke alive in the Star Wars Universe.  I am not saying that it will be the last time we will see Luke in the films since we could definitely see Luke in the form of a Force Ghost.   Looking back throughout the story of Star Wars you can’t help but notice the similarities between Luke and Obi Wan’s journeys.

THE ABRUPT LOSS OF THEIR MENTORS AT YOUNG AGES

Both Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke witnessed the loss of their mentor abruptly before their training to become a Jedi was done.  These events had profound effectS on both Obi Wan and Luke with taking on the burdens of saving the galaxy by themselves.

BOTH WERE TRAINED BY YODA

After Qui-Gon Jinn was taken down by Darth Maul, Yoda became Obi Wan’s mentor throughout the Clone Wars.  After Obi Wan sacrifices himself to save Luke and the crew on the Death Star he instructs Luke to travel to Dagobah to find Yoda and finish his training to become a Jedi.

BOTH FAILED AS MENTORS TO THEIR FIRST PADAWANS

While Obi Wan’s first Padawan, Anakin, was proclaimed to be the savior of the Force this did not come to fruition.  Obi Wan’s failure as a mentor lead to the rise of the Galactic Empire.  After Luke destroys the Galactic Empire he tries to restore the Jedi Order but fails with his strongest student, Kylo Ren.  Luke’s failure as a mentor lead to the rise of the First Order.

AFTER THEIR FAILURES BOTH HID IN SECLUSION

With both Obi Wan and Luke failing to train their strongest students both flee into seclusion to return later.  Obi Wan will flee to Tatooine after leaving Luke with his relatives and Luke will flee to the first Jedi temple.  While both are in seclusion they will train to continue life after death.

BOTH RETURN FROM SECLUSION TO TRAIN A NEW PROTEGE TO TAKE DOWN THEIR FIRST PADAWAN

Both Obi Wan and Luke returned from seclusion to train older Padawans.  Ben comes out of hiding to train Luke to confront and take down Darth Vader.  Luke will come out of hiding to

It is hard to deny the similarities that have between two major characters in the Star Wars Universe.  With so many similarities that were in The Force Awakens to the original trilogy it is hard to dismiss any theories going into Episode VIII.  What do you guys think?
