Well, it looks like we are slowly approaching summer 2021. With restrictions and guidelines slowly being pulled away I feel like a lot of people are going to be off to the races. Trying to catch up on all the social events that they have missed thanks to the pandemic. But what if we have already started to become introverts and feel like get-togethers are going to be awkward? Well, I may have just the film for you to get you ready.
This weekend, Vertical Entertainment has released the coming of age comedy titled, The Get Together. Filmmaker Will Bakke wanted to give us a look at what his typical backyard get-together would look like in Austin, Texas. When the neighborhood gets together, anything can happen as relationships change through time. The Get Together stars Alejandro Rose Garcia, Courtney Parchman, Jacob Artist, and Joanna Brady.
Here is the synopsis for The Get Together:
The lives of four twenty-somethings intertwine over the course of one Friday night house party. In this inventive and hilarious coming-of-age comedy. August, a quirky recent college grad struggling to find her footing in a new town discovers her roommate and only friend has different plans for the future that don’t include her. Damien and Betsy, a cute couple returning to Austin, bump into an old friend of Betsy’s who invites them out to the party upending Damien’s secret plan to propose. Caleb, a directionless musician whose life unravels after letting go of the love of his life suddenly gets a second chance when he runs into her at the party. Each character attempts to navigate the often difficult and hilarious problems that come with growing up in the modern world.
