Will Poulter Is Out Of Amazon’s The Lord Of The Rings Show Due To Scheduling Conflicts

Amazon's Lord of the Rings show release date

Yesterday we shared a story about a new regular cast member in Ema Horvath joining Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings show. However, the production takes one step forward and one back. Today we have learned through THR that Will Poulter who was pencilled into play a lead role in the show has left due to scheduling conflicts.

The trade says that whilst Poulter was supposed to be in a leading role, he hadn’t actually signed on the dotted line and scheduling conflicts have meant him having to pull out. I can’t imagine he would be having cold feet on a role as big as this could be, so he must be signed up and unable to shift whatever else he has on at the same time.

Has this been affected by Amazon’s decision to delay some filming in Season 1 in order to allow the writers a chance to start developing Season 2? There are no details on that, but it seems to me like this could have had an impact. The show is set to begin filming next year in New Zealand after a sort of battle was fought for the production between studios there and a brand new studio recently built in Scotland, which clearly, New Zealand won.

We only have a few key cast members signed on so far, Ema Horvath as we shared yesterday, as well as Joseph Mawle (Game of Thrones). We expect this to begin ramping up dramatically over the next year as production on the show moves closer.
