Before the magic of television, families tuned into radios for their choice of home entertainment. This did not only include news and sports but scripted radio dramas that included superhero shows for kids. Well, Marvel New Media has partnered with Stitcher to bring you their first ever scripted podcast.

The podcast will be titled, Wolverine: The Long Night. It will be 10 episodes that will air weekly starting on March 12th, 2018 exclusively on Stitcher Premium. Here is a description of the podcast as described by the press release we received:

The Wolverine: The Long Night story is a captivating hybrid of mystery and the larger-scale fantasy of the Marvel Universe. It follows agents Sally Pierce (Celia Keenan-Bolger) and Tad Marshall (Ato Essandoh) as they arrive in the fictional town of Burns, Alaska, to investigate a series of murders and quickly discover the town lives in fear of a serial killer. The agents team up with deputy Bobby Reid (Andrew Keenan-Bolger) to investigate their main suspect, Logan (Richard Armitage). Their search leads them on a fox hunt through the mysterious and corrupt town.

Take a listen to a preview of the podcast here!

The production team is made up of both comic book and podcast veterans. The series is written by award-winning comic book writer Benjamin Percy and will be directed by Brendan Baker. The production team is made up of Daniel Fink from Marvel and Jenny Radelet from Stitcher.

As a comic book fan, I will give this a shot. But after listening to the preview it sounded more like a soap opera to me than a comic book show, but it’s a podcast so I think my expectations are too high. Although I have listened to show of the very old Superman scripted radio shows from the 30’s that were interesting.

What do you think of this scripted podcast? Something worth checking out or is it a pass?

Marvel’s Wolverine: The Long Night begins March 12th, 2018 exclusively on Stitcher Premium.
