David Thewlis in Avatar 3, but not Avatar 2! Read on for more details.
Recently David Thewlis discussed being in the Avatar sequels and playing a Na’vi. However, the actor was confused after reading his interview back because the publication claimed Thewlis was appearing in Avatar 2. Sure enough, if you checked IMDb then you’d have seen Thewlis listed for Avatar 2.
However, the actor has now explained in an interview with Collider that this was a mistake. Thewlis says he is not in Avatar 2, but he is in Avatar 3. He also confirms he is due to be back for both Avatar 4/5. Check it out.
“Well, nothing could be more different than Avatar. It completely doesn’t resemble anything that I’ve ever done,” he started. “I should be clear, by the way, cause I know that a magazine in Britain has got me in Avatar 2, but I’m not in Avatar 2. I’m going to be in Avatar 3, which was shot at the same time as Avatar 2, and the plan is that I will be in Avatar 4 and 5, as well. I just wanted to clear that up because somebody got that wrong recently.”

Of course, Avatar 2 and 3 are shooting concurrently, therefore it’s an easy mistake to make. As for Avatar 4/5, well that might depend on how well Avatar 2 & 3 perform? Far as we know, the final two Avatar movies have yet to be greenlit. Again, unless we don’t know something, that green light will depend on how much money the first two Avatar sequels make.
If Avatar 2 does 70% of what Avatar took at the box office, it’ll be a hit. But will fans stick through to Avatar 3? Will there be enough demand for the fourth and fifth Avatar movies to get Disney to give the go-ahead? I guess we are just gonna have to wait and see on that one.
