Zack Snyder Shares First Shot At Product Of Rebel Moon

Rebel Moon

Production for Zack Snyders upcoming Sci-fi film, Rebel Moon, is underway and the director has just shared the first look at the Sci-fi film. The film was originally pitched by Zack Snyder as a Star Wars film over ten years ago the project got shelved when Disney purchased Lucasfilm.  After Snyder finished his production of the re-release of Justice League he started toying around the idea of making the film himself. Shortly after the release of the SnyderCut of Justice League he ended up making a multi-film deal with streaming powerhouse Netflix. Rebel Moon ended up being included in the deal.

It has been a while since we have had any updates about the upcoming project besides some little synopsis points. While the image that Snyder shared doesn’t give a whole lot of details, it does give a small idea of the style the film is going for.

When the announcement for Rebel Moon came out Snyder was ecstatic to be able to bring this project to life.  “This is me growing up as an Akira Kurosawa fan, a Star Wars fan,” Snyder said. “It’s my love of sci-fi and a giant adventure. My hope is that this also becomes a massive IP and a universe that can be built out.” With Netflix in his corner, there is a good chance that we could see multiple films in this universe.

The premise of the film follows a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy that is threatened by the armies of a tyrannical regent named Balisarius. Desperate, people dispatch an enigmatic young woman with a mysterious past to seek out warriors from neighboring planets to help them make a stand against the impending invasion.

I am a Zack Snyder fan but I fear that with this originally being pitched as a Star Wars film it will be compared to Star Wars instead of an original film. On the other hand what if this turns out to be better than the sequel trilogies???  Either way, there will be fans entrenched in their opinions before even watching the film.  One can only hope that this film will launch an original franchise that Snyder can develop and see through.
