The Dune remake is moving along under the stewardship of director Denis Villeneuve and we already know that Timothée Chalamet has been cast in the lead role of Paul Atreides. We also just found out that Star Wars star Oscar Isaac has been cast in the role of Atreides father.
Now we can add another name to the list as a new report from Coming Soon reveals that Spider-Man: Homecoming star Zendaya is in talks to play Chani, the love interest of Chalamet’s Paul Atreides. This rounds off a very interesting ensemble cast with Stellan Skarsgård set to play primary antagonist Baron Harkonnen, Dave Bautista as his nephew, the horrible Rabban and Rebecca Ferguson playing Lady Jessica, wife of Isaac’s character and mother of Paul Atreides.

Zendaya made her name as a kid star in various Disney TV shows and as an adult, she is now landing some sizeable roles at her tender age. The star is also set to appear as MJ, Peter Parker’s love interest once again in Spider-Man: Far From Home which is due this summer.
The novel Dune from author Frank Herbert is being split into a 2 part movie from Villeneuve and will follow the fortunes of the Atreides family as they are betrayed by the Harkonnen’s and forced to flee to the desert wastes of planet Arrakis. But young Paul will become a messianic figure for a group of Nomads and ultimately rise up against the oppressors of his family.
No release date has yet been set for the first part of Villeneuve’s Dune, but filming for the movie is expected to begin this year. With most of the main cast now coming together nicely I am looking forward to seeing what Villeneuve can do with this classic sci-fi story.
