The Rock Adds Fuel To Green Lantern Rumors

Green_Lantern_Corps_005Has Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson been spending too much hanging around Vin Diesel? Diesel’s become notorious in recent years by taking to social media to personally break news to his fans, and now it looks like Johnson may have done the same. This is actually old news, by the way, but it’s finally making the rounds, so here it goes:

A few months ago, Johnson posted this on Instagram:

Why has this now become notable? Well, take a look at the hashtags he put at the end of his long description. That last one reads, “#JohnStewartCanStillWhupSupermansAss

At the time, that may have seemed like an odd thing to throw in there. But then, a month later, he broke the news on Twitter that he’d signed on to appear in a DC film.

When you couple the John Stewart reference with his involvement in a DC movie, then sprinkle onto that all that the rumors that have been circulating since January that he was going to play Green Lantern, it sure points in a particular direction.

Not to mention: He specifies the year 2014, when the only known DC project(s) being filmed this year is Batman vs Superman, with the unconfirmed possibility that Justice League will piggyback onto that production for a back-to-back shoot. You’ve also got Henry Cavill supposedly saying he’s set to film for the next 10 months, which is quite a lot of time to spend on just one movie.

So there’s definitely an internal logic to all of these rumblings and rumors. Now we just need to sit back, wait, and see how this all pans out.
