Ron Howard has taken to Twitter to make a very special announcement regarding the Han Solo Star Wars spinoff movie.

Take a look at the tweet below:

For those who can’t watch the video, here’s what he had to say:

“As we wrap up production, I just want to take a moment to thank an incredibly talented cast and crew for all their hard work. And to the fans out there, I hope you’ve enjoyed the pictures that I’ve been sharing, pictures that I’ve been taking the set of…can we even say the name of the movie?”

Howard’s then given a title card from a pair of Wookie hands. He turns it around, and it reveals the title as Solo: A Star Wars Story.

“I’ll seen you next year!” Howard finishes.

We have to say, we’re not all that surprised with this. Pretty much from the get-go, Solo: A Star Wars Story was speculated to be one of the titles, along with Han Solo: A Star Wars Story. However, with an official title now out there in the aether, the whole deal certainly feels a lot more official.

It won’t win any creativity awards, but it fit. What do you think of the new title? Let us know down below!

Solo: A Star Wars Story hits theaters on May 25, 2018.

I would have preferred: Han Solo The Kessel Run. Obviously not knowing what the movie was about…

meh.. i really wish I was excited by this, but like the cliche’ goes “I got a bad feeling…….”

      Very “meh”.

Title is OK, if unimaginative. More interested in how extensive these re-shoots are. I forget the exact timeline but if I recall, Howard’s been shooting for months.

  • Why did they keep it secret for so long when it was just this?

    I don’t get it?

I get why the main saga title is exciting but…..meh!

I’m guessing they didn’t settle on a title until just recently. Probably debated over several options for months and in the end, went with the safest, most marketable, at least imaginative one.

jesus 10 month of Principal filming for a just a space heist film? None of the past Star Wars films did this, it was less then 4 months, then reshoots for characters walking into a door ways and ILM blowing stuff up in a parking lot.
    But cute Oppie Cunningham.

I like the title and i’m pretty confident we are going to like this movie a lot more than we’re expecting to.

Yawn: Another reason not to see this crap-fest story. I will be skipping this one.

“Solo: A Flip-Cup Story”. The story of how Han Solo becomes Flip-Cup champion at Smuggler’s University only to be expelled for keeping a non-sanctioned Wookie in his dorm room, causing him to go rogue and eventually help save the rebellion, one princess at a time.
