Last week, we reported a rumor from Variety that stated actors Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Kevin Hart were involved in the upcoming JUMANJI remake, which is a film that’s been in development for quite some time. Given the Rock’s star power, as well as his recent tendency to hop onto established properties, it seemed like a believable move from the professional wrestler-turned-actor.
Today, the Rock himself has confirmed his involvement in the adventure remake via his Instagram account. The post in question has the picture of him holding a script, which we can assume is the script for JUMANJI.
Within the long caption, the Rock said the following:
“It's official. We'll produce and deliver to a whole new generation a title that I love and is one of my all time favs:
There's games you play for fun...then there's games that change your life. JUMANJI. Working on edging up an already very good script with my @sevenbucksprod team. Up next is meeting with our producer Matt Tolmach and director Jake Kasdan. Shooting starts this fall. Promise to deliver something cool and special.. and not screw the whole damn thing up;). As always I'll keep you posted. Casting this should be fun!”

There’s currently no official word on whether or not Hart is on board for the film as well, but if this particular rumor from Variety turned out true, the odds seem to be in his favor.
For those unfamiliar with the premise of JUMANJI, the original film followed a pair of siblings who stumble upon a board game. While playing, they inadvertently free a man named Alan, who had apparently been stuck in the game for decades. Unfortunately, with every move they make on the board, another danger is unleashed upon them in the real world, and the only way they can win the game is if they keep playing.
What do you think of the Rock’s involvement in JUMANJI? Does it make you look forward to the remake even more? Let us know your thoughts down below!
JUMANJI hits theaters on July 28, 2017.
