The fifth installement into Disney’s popular Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man Tell No Tales, pulled in just under $800 million worldwide on a $250 million-dollar budget. While this is definitely a profit for the studio, the film didn’t pull in that usual Pirates money. This has fans wondering about the future of the franchise. One of the stars of the most recent film, Kaya Scoledario, says she is signed up for a sixth movie.

“Well, when I signed up for the first one, I signed up for two movies. So I am contractually obliged, but I’d love to [do it]. I think there’s a lot we can still do. I’d like see a Carina who takes the helm of Barbossa on the sea – have her own all-female pirate crew.”

I would also enjoy seeing Carina lead her own pirate crew, as long as Jack Sparrow was somehow involved.

While the last two films were met with mixed reviews, I love the ‘Pirates’ franchise and hope that they do make at least one more. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man Tell No Tales had it flaws but was still a fun and entertaining movie, and I deem it a fine entry into the franchise.

I liked 5 more than 4. I was disappointed we didn’t get the Flying Dutchman fighting that other ghost ship.
I say as long as they keep making Transformers movies they can make more of these. Just add the Rock as a Buccaneer and you have another 6 movies worth of star power.

I don’t think it’s legal to make a franchise film without trying to put the Rock in it anymore.

The final scene after the credits was pretty much the first scene of PotC 6, so a sequel is guaranteed.

isn’t like Penelope Cruz like have special powers at the end of her end credit scene? part 4….. I can’t believe Ian McShane lacked any real personality in that film.

Dead Men Tell No Tales was actually really good! I quite enjoyed it. And it wrapped up the Turner’s story…No more Turner’s needed. But yes, Sparrow plus Carina would be great. We do need Jack Sparrow. For better or worse he’s the most famous pirate in cinematic history.

    • Lenin1959

Bad luck, Moby85. The final scene after the credits was… the Turners reunited in their bedroom. And then an old enemy pays them a visit. So PotC will most likely feature A LOT of Turners and the old enemy.

really? Did they ever explain how Will Son looks horrible for a 10 year old? Gigantic bones?

I can’t wait to read the blurb that says “the best of the series.” and then there’s that tiny name so hard to read even in HD
wow, another one? No, it’s true there are a BILLION stories to tell in Pirates but they found the formula and then run it into the ground in the most pedestrian manner.

Great franchises deserve more sequels… PERIOD
    No exception here.
I hope they are all great in the future.
