The fifth installement into Disney’s popular Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man Tell No Tales, pulled in just under $800 million worldwide on a $250 million-dollar budget. While this is definitely a profit for the studio, the film didn’t pull in that usual Pirates money. This has fans wondering about the future of the franchise. One of the stars of the most recent film, Kaya Scoledario, says she is signed up for a sixth movie.

“Well, when I signed up for the first one, I signed up for two movies. So I am contractually obliged, but I’d love to [do it]. I think there’s a lot we can still do. I’d like see a Carina who takes the helm of Barbossa on the sea – have her own all-female pirate crew.”

I would also enjoy seeing Carina lead her own pirate crew, as long as Jack Sparrow was somehow involved.

While the last two films were met with mixed reviews, I love the ‘Pirates’ franchise and hope that they do make at least one more. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man Tell No Tales had it flaws but was still a fun and entertaining movie, and I deem it a fine entry into the franchise.
