[UPDATED] RUMOR: Deadpool 2 Casting Three More X-Force Members?!

UPDATE: In response to this rumor, one of the Deadpool 2‘s writers, Rhett Reese, took to Twitter to debunk this rumor.

Check out the tweet below:

ORIGINAL STORY:

It’s no real surprise that the Deadpool franchise is heading towards a bigger movie in X-Force. It’s already been confirmed that X-Force is in development, and we already know that Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds was set to develop the story, and that action director Joe Carnahan was set to direct it. In short, we knew things would build to that team being assembled. But all that being said, we didn’t realize it could come so soon.

Studios have made the mistake in the past of pushing for a team to assemble far too soon. We saw it in films like Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Given the more low-key nature of Deadpool as a franchise, we figured they’d keep things small. Yes, we’d have Deadpool himself, and we’d even have Cable and Domino (played by Josh Brolin and Zazie Beetz, respectively), but beyond that, it was important that the story and film remain self-contained so that it stands perfectly well on its own. The last thing fans wanted was another film that serves as one big trailer for yet another film.

It sounds like those wishes may have been in vain. According to sources close to ComicBook.com, Deadpool 2 is looking to cast three more X-Force members. The members in question are Sunspot, who feeds off sunlight; Feral, a cat-like mutant with enhanced healing; and Shatterstar, who has super-strength and the ability to create shockwaves and portals.

I know. It sounds like Hollywood is already catching up with the Deadpool franchise, doesn’t it? Well, not so fast. From the sound of it, these characters will only be introduced via a post-credits scene. So we can rest well knowing that they won’t be trying to crowd up the narrative of Deadpool 2 with the introduction of these future anti-heroes (again, I’ll point to Batman v Superman, as an instance of how NOT to introduce a team of heroes).

What do you think of this rumor? Do you buy it? If so, who would you pick to play these characters? Let us know in the comments down below!
