Ant-Man And The Wasp Star Paul Rudd Discusses Unusual Scene In the Movie (SPOILERS)

Have you seen Ant-Man and the Wasp yet this weekend? If you have, I’m jealous as I will not get to see the movie until the UK release date in August. Given my job here at LRM I have accepted the fact I am going to be spoiled rotten for this movie. However, if you have not seen Ant-Man and the Wasp yet, be warned.

Major SPOILERS ahead.

One of the most interesting sounding scenes in the movie has Ant-Man himself aka Paul Rudd impersonating Janet Van Dyne aka screen legend Michelle Pfeiffer. Apparently, during the quantum realm scene in Ant-Man, Janet Van Dyne found Scott Lang and implanted a communication method within Lang. This device allows Van Dyne to take over Scott Lang and speak with her family for the first time in thirty years.

Obviously, this meant that Paul Rudd had to impersonate Michelle Pfeiffer and have some heart warning emotional scenes with Hank Pym and his daughter Hope. Speaking with Screen Rant here is what Paul Rudd said about the weirdness of filming this scene for the movie.

“I feel like I’ve been doing that for years. Every time we would refer to that, we kept calling it the “All Of Me Sequence” and we’d have many conversations about it earlier on. Because this seems like a fairly big swing. But it was surreal, to say the least. And there are those moments, you know, as an actor, you have to buy into this scenario and you’re playing the truth of the moment. But at the same time, as me being me and Michael being Michael, when I had my hand tenderly to his cheek and I’m staring… in the eyes, here we… we giggled a couple of times.”

It sounds like a scene that will be both heart-warming and hilarious at the same time. I suppose Paul Rudd is used to having to play comedy very straight-faced and Michael Douglas has seen it all in his career, but still, it must be hard not to giggle.
