Paul Bettany and James Spader talk about VisionQuest in a new interview, including where both characters begin the show. Speaking with RT recently, and just after the VisionQuest trailer was revealed this past weekend this is a great interview/ I’ll summarise what they spoke about, but I really encourage you to watch it for yourself. The chemistry between the pair is palpable and it gives me confidence in the show.
Details of note: Bettany was full of praise for Spader and likewise Spader referenced how creative Bettany was on set. They detailed a scene which Bettany came up with (for Spader) that was so good, they had the change the schedule to film it.
The pair spoke about where we find their characters at the start of the show. For Vision, Bettany says we find him living and working in a pub in Scotland. Though, when he goes ‘home’ he lives in a digital world within his head as he tries to sort out the memories he received from the previous Vision, that memory is filled with various AI’s seen before in the MCU.
One of them is Ultron, as Spader says, Ultron has been uploaded into Vision and his consciousness is essentially imprisoned within Vision himself. In this way, Ultron, who has taken up painting, acts as a guide of sorts, albeit a psychopathic one.

The interviewer also asked if Vision’s son is in the show? Bettany pondered how a machine could have a son, a Scottish son a that jokingly. Meanwhile, Spader said he needs to admit he’s the father and that he is the kid’s grandfather.
It’s a really great interview and if these two play as well on screen as they do in real life we could be in for a treat. That new trailer worked for me, it looks bonkers and interesting. Plus, the Barside Buzz has been good for this one for a while.
