Star Wars: The Force Awakens brought back some old friends. I wasn’t particularly pleased with how these old friends were handled. Though I was glad to see Han and Chewy still paling around together after all this time, but it broke my heart to learn the two had been without the Millennium Falcon for 30 years. That’s like taking Indy’s whip or Fedora away from him, why would someone do that? Anyway, the duo ended up finding the Falcon after it was stolen from Unkar Plutt by Rey and Finn. I would ask what the odds were of Han and Chewy finding the Falcon after all this time, but I know what Han would say to that.
As it turns out, this wasn’t the only propsed way for Han and Chewy to make an entrance in The Force Awakens. Newly revealed concept art shows something very different, something upon I think I may have liked better. The concept art comes from Lucasfilm Art Director and Concept Artist Christian Alzmann. The image shows everyone’s favorite smuggler appearing to have won a drinking contest against acouple of aliens who have passed out. There could be more the scenario, who knows what kind of scheme Han may have been trying to pull. I think I prefer this entrance for Captain Solo, as it it reminiscent of the first time we meet Han and Chewy in the Cantina on Mos Eisley. It would have been a nice nod to A New Hope, and maybe even been a bit of space poetry.
What do you think of this intro for Han? Would you prefer this to what were given in the film? Let us know your thoughts in the comments down below!
