The Big Bang Theory Finale Hit Almost 20 Million Viewers

A lot of people loved The Big Theory. It ran for 12 seasons and became the longest-running multi-cam comedy in American television history, and it all came to an end this past Thursday. CBS, the channel that broadcast the show, should be happy with the send-off it got. It wasn’t a record breaker, but it wasn’t disappointing either.

The series ending two-hour episode saw a decent 3.1 rating in the prime 18-49 demo group. This was up almost a full point from last year’s season finale and the biggest rating since the final season’s opener. The audience size was an average of 17.994 million viewers.

The show really played the stereotyping of geeks and super intelligent people thick. I’ll be honest, this made me not like the show. However, many people either didn’t mind or liked that goofy exaggeration of a huge group of the population.

Fans don’t need to be too distraught though. Young Sheldon, a spin-off of The Big Bang Theory, has been renewed through the fourth season. That show follows a… wait for it… young Sheldon and his experiences as a really smart kid in a world that is full of people that hate feeling intellectually inferior to others.
