We all miss Stan. He passed away last year and it still doesn’t seem real. The worlds and characters he helped create have been the key to millions of people’s childhoods, friendships, romantic relationships, and even their ability to cope with bad things in life. He created characters with flaws that were more human than any character offered by any other comic book company. He aimed to make social commentary through his works touching on everything including racism and sexism. He aimed to change the world, and he did just that.
There have been plenty of Movies based on the creations of Stan Lee, but it is the Marvel Cinematic Universe that really brought his vision onto the big screen. Stan is a familiar face in the Marvel movies as he has had a cameo in all of them in one form or another. This made him noticeable to even the most casual comic book movie fan and he became an eagerly anticipated Easter egg for each new movie.
During a recent Ask Me (Almost) Anything on Reddit with MCU Producer Kevin Feige it was revealed Stan never got to see Avengers: Endgame. This makes me incredibly sad as he never got to see all of the heroes return. Feige had this to say:
“Stan loved to wait to see the final movie at the premiere, so unfortunately he did not get to see the finished movie. Stan got a download of the full story the day he came and shot his cameo.”
So, Stan knew everyone was coming back, but he didn’t see it because he wanted to experience the completed film. I guess that’s okay.
Another sad thing is that his final cameo came and went with Endgame. I had really hoped to see him get a final cameo in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Spidey has always been the flagship character of Marvel and is considered by many to be Stan’s most beloved creation.
