As many of you know, writer/director James Gunn is back working with Marvel, set to deliver chapterthree of the franchise he helped to popularize, Guardians of the Galaxy. A quick recap – Gunn was fired from the franchise for decade old tweets that were deemed inappropriate, switched sides and was hired to do a sort of reboot of Suicide Squad, and then was rehired by Marvel.
Now it’s being reported that Gunn will not only give fans a much-needed Suicide Squad reboot, but also help to rebuild the DC extended universe. Apparently, Gunn will take on a Kevin Feige type role, and along with the Suicide Squad film, will have a big influence on serveral upcoming projects.

According to We Got This Covered, DC will continue with the idea of a shared universe and stand alone films, such as Matt Reeves’ The Batman. The outlet’s source also mentioned plans to eventually merge the two on screen universes in the future.
I don’t think I am alone in wanting to see a more coherent and just overall better DCEU. The last effort was a hurried attempt to catch up to Marvel, and that, in my opinion was the where things went wrong. DC should have built their universe over time, just like Marvel. They tried to play catch-up and it simply wasn’t the way to go.
