Forget Detective Pikachu. Forget Sonic the Hedgehog. The real video game mascot that has been itching for an adaptation is the one and only Mega Man. That’s right. The blue did with an arm cannon has been primed and ready for a film. We’ve reported on it in the past, but it wasn’t anything special in terms of news. All we heard this past November is that the Blue Bomber flick was in development again.
We had no idea who was on board talent-wise (all we’d heard before came from 2018, and from the sound of it, none of that is really happening anymore). They could have gone straight back to the drawing board, for all we know. Heck, if this latest bit of news is any indication…that’s exactly what happened.

According to THR, Mattson Tomlin, co-writer for Matt Reeves’ The Batman, is writing Mega Man for 20th Century Studios and Chernin Entertainment. There are no other details regarding the project, but if this is the case, I would assume that previously-mentioned writers or directors are pretty much out.
