When Thor: Love and Thunder kicks off, it will do so from a very different place from where things were left in the previous Thor film. Since Ragnarok, Loki has died, Thor has been through an emotional turmoil and severe depression, and Valkyrie is now ruler of Asgard. Oh, and Asgard itself is now a little town in Norway. Mustn’t forget that.
Thor: Love and Thunder will feature all the characters of Ragnarok, save a swapsie from Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, to Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster. How Thor, Valkyrie, Korg, Jane, and the others come together and what they are doing ultimately remains a mystery. We know two things really. One, that Jane Foster will at some point wield a hammer and be Thor herself. Secondly, there has been much talk of Valkyrie (a confirmed gay character) finding her queen, to rule Asgard with. Tessa Thomson herself said this when speaking about the next Thor movie at SDCC this year.
“First of all, as king, as new king [of Asgard], she needs to find her queen. So that will be the first order of business. She has some ideas. I’ll keep you posted. And then, I don’t know, what’s cool about Asgard — as it has already been mentioned — Asgard is not a place but a people. So I think just reinvesting in her people, and a cool thing is to create a refuge for any person who might need it. That to me is the idea of a perfect Asgard.”
Now according to a new rumor from scoop site MCU Cosmic, we may finally have an answer to that question? Take this all with a grain of salt as per all rumors, until we hear from more sources, but the outlet seems convinced that the character of Mist is going to be making her MCU debut in the movie.
Mist is a fellow Valkyrie, and whilst we were told that the Valkyrie we know was the only survivor in that battle against Hela, this is easily explained away. Now, the outlet does not speculate on Valkyrie and Mist being an item, they don’t even say for certain this character will turn up in Love and Thunder. However, fans will be fans, and the news has so far brought the same response as my own. This could be a nice way to introduce a potentially old or new love interest with Valkyrie. This would be someone with a big connection to Valkyrie for obvious reasons. It’s also a movie about, well love and thunder, so we do expect a bit of romance in this one, and that’s not guaranteed to be between Thor and Jane Foster.

If Mist is coming, it would seem the most appropriate upcoming movie, and it would be an obvious potentially love match for Valkyrie. However, let’s be clear the rumor only states that they’ve heard Mist is definitely coming into one of the upcoming projects. The rest is speculation on my part.
