Stanley Tucci To Host Upcoming Culinary Doc Series On CNN And I Want It Aired Yesterday

Stanley Tucci is a thespian treasure.

Uniquely talented, Tucci’s career began back in 1985. Since then, he has built a diverse resume of roles that include multiple genres—both on film and on stage. From light-hearted fare like The Devil Wears Prada and Easy A to critically acclaimed productions like Conspiracy and The Lovely Bones (earning him his first Oscar nomination), versatile is an understatement when describing Tucci. The fact that he has received only one Oscar nomination is surprising given his multitude of roles.

Now, Tucci can add a new role to his list: doc series host. Coming soon, Tucci will be lending his hosting abilities to an upcoming docu-series from CNN and Raw Television, who produced Three Identical Strangers and Netflix’s Don’t Fxxk With Cats. In Stanley Tucci: Searching For Italy, the actor will travel through different regions in the country, looking at the history of the food there. For example, the series will look at how wealth and poverty impacted the cuisine culture in Florence, Tuscany. According to Deadline, Tucci will also visit Rome, Sicily, and Milan to “gain a better understanding of the history, culture, and people.”

Tucci had this to say about the upcoming project:

“I wanted to do this series because I am fascinated by the diversity of Italian cuisine and set out to gain a better understanding of the country’s rich history and culture. This was a passion project and love letter to the place where my family is from. I am thrilled to be working with CNN on this project as an admirer of their reporting and original series, which are incredibly smart, compelling, and beautifully produced.”

Tucci co-directed and starred in Big Night, the 1996 comedy/drama about two Italian immigrant brothers who open their own restaurant in New Jersey. He has also published his own cookbooks in the past. Amy Entalis, Executive Vice President of Talent and Content Development at CNN said in regards to Tucci, “He’s a wonderfully appealing actor and he brought that passion to the subject.”

As someone who has enjoyed not only Tucci’s work, but also his appearances outside of acting, this is a series that will be tabled a must-watch in our household. The setting, the food, the narrative, and the presence of Tucci are more than enough to make me set the DVR for this intriguing production.

The series is currently in production and no premiere date has been released yet. Keep your eyes on LRM Online for all updates in the future.
